Our Approach to Wedding Filmmaking

Spoiler alert: it involves a lot less “ACTION!” than you think…

When you’re looking for a wedding videographer, it’s easy to get lost in a flurry of catchy buzzwords — cinematic, documentary, editorial, storytelling… what does it all mean?!

At Aurora Wedding Films, our approach is simple: we capture your day as it unfolds, with just the right balance of artistry and authenticity. No scripts, no fake laughs, no awkward posing — just real people, real moments, beautifully told.

When people hear “wedding videographer,” they sometimes picture a full film crew showing up with lights, scripts, and 5 cameras on tripods stationed strategically to block your path to the bathroom.

That’s… not us.

At Aurora Wedding Films, our approach is simple: capture your day as it actually happens. The laughter, the nerves, the champagne-fueled dance moves, all of it, exactly how it unravels. Every magic moment. We dont like producing or scripting moments. We give you space to enjoy your day so we get the real stuff.

Because the real stuff? That’s the good stuff.

Documentarians, Not Directors

Think of us as friendly storytellers with cameras, not controlling stage managers. We blend into the background (or the dance floor), quietly catching the small glances, hand squeezes, and emotional moments that make your wedding yours.

We’ll guide you just enough when needed (because sometimes it’s really dang hard to know what to do with your hands), but we’ll never turn your wedding into a movie set. The story already exists — we just make sure it’s told beautifully.

Picture me as a guest with really nice cameras and no urge to tell you where to stand. I don’t choreograph moments or yell “Do that again, but with more emotion.” My job is to blend in, soak up the atmosphere, and quietly catch the little things, your bridesmaids quirky jokes, the bestman zipping up the grooms pants, your distant cousin’s surprisingly smooth dance moves.

Every wedding package with Aurora Wedding Films includes a mix of film and digital footage, and you can learn more about the magic of incorporating film into your special day here.

We Chase Feelings, Not Polished Perfection

Lighting changes every 30 minutes. People cry and makeup inevitably needs touch ups. Kids dart into the shot. We LOVE it. Those are the things that make a film feel alive.

Our goal is not to make every frame flawless, it’s to make it true. When you watch it back, we want you to say, “That’s exactly how it felt.” And then of course maybe shed a few tears…and some laughs

The Art Is in the Observation

Some of our favorite moments happen when no one realizes we’re filming — your sister fixing your veil, your friends hyping you up before the ceremony, your mom squeezing on your dad’s hand for support, your partner taking that deep breath before seeing you for the first time.

You can’t script that. You can only notice it. And that’s what we do best.

Your Story, Your Way

Every couple has their own rhythm, humor, and energy — so no two Aurora films ever look exactly alike. We tailor our editing to reflect you. Whether your day is calm and romantic or loud and unruly (in the absolute best way), your film should feel like it belongs completely to your story.

We believe the best wedding films don’t just show what your day looked like, they show what it felt like to be there. If that sounds like your jam, we’d love to be there with our cameras rolling while you make memories.

Let’s chat!
